The so-called distributed computing is often used to solve complex and demanding scientific and applied problems. Grid technologies are among the areas of their development. They allow to efficiently and reliably manage computer resources plugged into the network. Ukrainian Academic Grid consolidates the computing power and storage resources of more than 30 research institutes of NAS-Ukraine. This ensures functional environment, which provides solution of a wide range of scientific problems. The paper presents the results of the use of grid infrastructure created in the Institute of Radio Astronomy of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for numerical solving of problems in various fields of astronomy, astrophysics and radio physics. Promising areas of wider use of parallel computing in scientific research are proposed.
