Meteorological Radars

Ka-band Solid-State Doppler Polarimetric Cloud Radar
A Ka-band Doppler polarimetric cloud radar is outfitted with a 20 W GaN solid-state power amplifier. The radar has been developed on the basis of its magnetron-based predecessor.

A High Power Compact X-Band RF Front-End
A high-power compact RF front-end benefits from a novel high efficiency GaN SSPA with 900 W peak power, a low noise receiver, and a low noise fast switching local oscillator. Circuits for accurate calibration of both the transmit and receive channels are provided. The front-end hardware is fitted into a standard 19”, 4U enclosure.

Ka-band Doppler Polarimetric Scanning Radar (MRIAN-Ka-C-S-0.5)
The MRIAN-Ka-C-S-0.5 is a multipurpose system that can be used as meteorological radar, or as air, surface, and maritime surveillance radar. It is designed for long life time, unattended operation at unmanned sites. The radar enables for real-time remote control, monitoring, diagnostics, and access to measured data. Continuous automatic calibration of the radar sensitivity is introduced.

Ka-band Doppler Polarimetric Scanning Radar (MRIAN-Ka-S-1.2)

The radar is intended for volumetric observation, real-time measurements, imaging, and storing of

  • Radar reflectivity profiles at co- and cross-polarizations,
  • Radial mean velocity profiles at co- and cross-polarizations,
  • Velocity variance at co- and cross-polarizations,
  • Doppler spectrum at co- and cross-polarizations,
  • Linear depolarization ratio (LDR),
  • The complete raw data, which are digitized signals from the I and Q receiver outputs.

W-band Doppler Polarimetric Radar (MRIAN-W-0.5)
The radar is designed for unattended operation, and it provides high-resolution, real-time measurements of profiles of reflectivity, linear depolarisation ratio, Doppler spectrum, radial velocity mean, and velocity variance of clouds and precipitation.

Ka-band Doppler Polarimetric Radar (MRIAN-Ka-1.0)
The radar (produced in cooperation with METEK, Germany) is designed for an unattended long-term operation and provides real-time measurements of vertical profiles of the radar reflectivity, the mean Doppler velocity, the Doppler spectrum width, as well as the complete Doppler spectra of radar signals from clouds and precipitations.
