Search and Track Radar Antenna Drive Control System.

The design of a microprocessor-based control system for a rotary antenna drive, formerly used in improvement of the “Shilka” drive mechanism, is shown. The control system employs the Analog Devices’ digital signal processor ADSP-2189 and the Altera’s FPGA chip EP1K30-ACEX. The control algorithm, the character of interaction between the antenna drive digital and analog subsystems, as well as the measures to provide better performance reliability and noise-immunity of communication channels, are described.
